Comprehensive protection of Active Directory accounts with Crowdstrike

In the CrowdStrike Threat Hunting Report 2023, threat hunters have observed a “massive escalation” of intrusions using identity-based methods. In particular, the report shows a nearly 6-fold increase in the number of attacks known as Kerberoastingcompared to last year. This method can be used to hijack Active Directory accounts that grant elevated privileges, allowing attackers to go undetected in target environments.

CrowdStrike’s report also found that 62% of interactive intrusions involved account misuse. In addition, the report recorded a 160 percent increase in attempts to obtain credentials, such as secret keys, through cloud metadata APIs.
