Infinidat storage solution pays for itself in 11 months and delivers 162% ROI. Report from IDC

Infinidat helps enterprises and service providers extend and scale their data-driven competitive advantage. Infinidat’s software-defined storage architecture delivers microsecond latency, 100% availability, and scalability with a significantly lower total cost of ownership than competing storage technologies.

Recently, IDC published a report titled “The Business Value of Infinidat Storage Systems,”sponsored by Infinidat. Researchers at the analyst firm surveyed seven enterprise customers in North America and Europe and found that the average payback period for an Infinidat InfiniBox hybrid storage array is 11 months..

The study included in-depth interviews with seven real-world enterprise customers of Infinidat and applied a methodology to determine the business value of IT infrastructure costs. The report shows that the customers who participated in the study received an average annual benefit of $1.29 million per organization ($166,700 per PB) from using InfiniBox, and over five years achieved a 162 percent return on investment (RoI).

As enterprises modernize their storage infrastructure and consolidate workloads, IT managers can realize rapid payback and high ROI by implementing and expanding the use of Infinidat enterprise storage solutions, delivering the high performance, 100 percent availability, scalability, and cyber resilience that is more important than ever.

IDC researchers say that the companies surveyed unanimously recognized that InfiniBox provides a robust infrastructure for more efficient storage management and significantly improves data compression, while delivering high value at low cost. In addition, InfiniBox has improved the efficiency of the storage management and performance teams, and increased the flexibility and responsiveness needed to deploy the right resources for business use. It has also minimized unplanned storage-related downtime and improved end-user productivity. As outlined in the report, these major storage infrastructure improvements have collectively accelerated business operations and improved results, as well as delivered quantifiable financial benefits.

Both the InfiniBox hybrid system and the all-flash InfiniBox SSA II are powered by Infinidat’s software-defined InfuzeOS architecture, utilizing Neural Cache deep learning algorithms for intelligent automation and performance, and InfiniVerse’s AIOps cloud-based tools for simplified storage administration. The InfiniBox hybrid system combines DRAM and flash caching layers on the front end with cost-effective, high-capacity hard drives on the back end, optimized with Neural Cache algorithms. The use of hard drives reduces the cost of storage, while InfiniBox still significantly outperforms many competitors with expensive hardware in terms of average latency.

“When we looked at the next-generation offerings, we realized that the cost was too high compared to what we could have gotten if we had gone through the RFI/RFP process. The Infinidat InfiniBox architecture was very interesting… We went through the RFP process, and Infinidat was one of the few that was able to demonstrate the ability to address all of our business needs. And they offered a price that was significantly lower than the competition, so it was a win-win.”

Economic benefit is about Infinidat

Significant cost savings are the result of dense workload consolidation, where InfiniBox and InfiniBox SSA II perform best. One Fortune 500 customer consolidated 24 competing arrays from three different vendors onto four InfiniBox systems, and a Fortune 500 telecommunications company saved more than $100 million in capital and operating costs.

These economically unstable times don’t seem to be stopping enterprise storage purchases. To get out of the economic doldrums, companies need to invest in digital technology, which means they need more enterprise storage.

At the same time, CIOs, CTOs, and other senior executives are under pressure to deliver a quick return on their IT investments. They need a more cost-effective, yet highly reliable infrastructure to manage storage more efficiently. They also need to ensure optimal availability and reliability of business-critical applications.

Infinidat customers can take advantage of InfiniBox’s Capacity on Demand and Cloud Storage as a Service offerings, enabling them to get all the benefits of high-end storage with data compression capabilities on a budget. Ultimately, InfiniBox offers a very attractive price/performance ratio, allowing enterprises and service providers to purchase additional petabytes of storage to support their business needs.

Customers surveyed in the study reported that after implementing InfiniBox, their operating costs for storage decreased by 48%. They also gained an average of 49% more petabytes to support their business and future growth. Customer feedback like this underscores that Infinidat is living up to its reputation for making enterprise storage faster, better, and cheaper.
